Tying the Knot for Ha Linh and Junwei

Ha Linh and Junwei were really fast thinkers. They know exactly what they wanted, who to chose and which venue to best depict their personality.

It was a small intimate event but with big big hearts from family and friends at Raffles Hotel and Halia.

Here are some of the amazing evening we spent capturing with my intern, Nik.

The weather was holding up well for us!

This was pretty unscripted. I didnt know that each of them had prepared a letter for each other on the wedding day to read.

They really listened to my advice of putting all their significant memories on the wedding day itself. It makes their wedding super intimate and meaningful!

Lovescapade of Esther and Shane

Esther is pretty visual person I ever met. She’s really good at knowing what she wants for her shoot which makes my life pretty much easier too! As much as possible, I love to shoot more engagement shoots, aka casual shots because it does brings more emotive shots without the hassle of heavy gowns etc. So Esther and Shane had that in mind for their #lovescapade.

We started in Coney Island first, as we wanted to have visuals of a woods, forest approach.

After that, the 2nd location gives a very interesting, Interstellar Cornfield chase look. If you are wondering what that means, it’s the one of the vibe in the movie, Interstellar.

the props that they are carrying, are genuine story telling characters. Shane's mum made this when he was young and never left him ever since.

I wanted to inject some laughter and fun vibes too. Since the earlier part of the shoot we were pretty calm, intimate and close.

Not forgetting some intimate night scene that brings a different level of vibes in the lovescapade shoot. Fairylights by Midnight Sparks.

till the next lovescapade,

Tying the Knot for Stephanie and Sam

This is one of the most memorable weddings I’ve ever captured. Sam and Stephanie’s wedding was filled with such wondrous beauty and joy, and it is for this very reason I find myself watching their wedding video again and again. Before you make a nosedive for the photos, do take some time to check out the amazing video by Multifolds’ resident principal videographer, Rainer!

The duo are avid cat lovers, and have Whiskey and Tutu as a part of their family.

Candy Crush remains one of their favourite pastimes.

This was a pretty intimate and relaxed wedding.

Peek a boo!

The wedding at Telok Blangah Hill.

The quote on this packet of tissue caught my eye, and remains forever etched in my memory.

Stephanie was extremely radiant that evening.

Lovescapade of Ee Sin and QQ in Japan

Japan never ceases to amaze me. It was fall when both Candy T, the couple’s chirpy make-up artist, and I arrived in Japan with QQ and Ee Sin. I had already pictured the beauty of the Japanese autumn in the couple’s #lovescapade when it started to snow. Yes! It was the first time I felt the cold kisses of snowflakes as they gently pelted my cheeks.

The Land of the Rising Sun is not only renowned for its postcard friendly landscapes, it also boosts an array of tantalising treats for both the foodie and shopaholic. The Japanese have also seamlessly merged world-class technology into their everyday lives, turning everything that would have been foreign into something user-friendly.

As Japan started to welcome winter, its breathtaking scenery too got even more amazing. I was drawn to the majestic ice cap of Mount Fuji that stood in full glory in the distance, the serene lakes of Kawaguchiko, and the vibrance of bustling Shinjuku and Shibuya. Japan never stops offering me so much to capture.

As clichéd as this may sound, a picture does speak a thousand words. Here are my favourite shots from QQ and Ee Sin’s #lovescapade in Japan, made even more beautiful with the wonder that is Japan.

QQ was really pleasantly surprised when it started to snow.

Lovescapade of Isaac and Linda (Acro-Yoga Edition)

Linda and Isaac approached with a concept for their shoot. It is unusual for couples to already have a concept in mind, as they would usually bounce a few ideas with us before finalising both the locations and concepts for their pre-wedding. Linda and Isaac, however, were extremely certain with the concept and location they had in mind: yoga in a studio.

I immediately jumped on the opportunity to help them further this concept. How often would a photographer be presented the chance to incorporate both yoga and a pre-wedding? I took the opportunity and stepped out of my comfort zone to take up this challenge.

How about this challenging pose for a start? We included both casual and formal get-ups for this yoga pre-wedding.

Cheese and smile everyone!

We took a while to get this shot right. It was challenging to get Linda stable on air with just Isaac’s support.

Some behind the scenes work

Look at the dedication and effort the power couple put in.

The list of yoga poses. It must be really tiring to attempt everything within 4 hours!

MelissaXParis

I was looking through old photos when I found this gem of an album.

It was July of last year when Melissa and I travelled around Paris. We were bathed in the warmth of the Parisian summer when we managed to enjoy the celebrations of Bastille Day!

I’ve always enjoyed working with the affable Melissa. I had only just finished a #lovescapade for a client when Melissa told me that she would be in Europe. I decided to extend my stay so that she could meet me in Paris. Well, you can’t call a shoot for one person a lovescapade, so let’s just call this a #selfscapade!

Paris is constantly flooded with golden light during summer, which makes for plenty of opportunities for beautiful portraits. What further fascinated me was that their sunsets were always around eight in the evening, which made for many late and extended golden hours.

p

Till then,

Melvin.

Lovescapade of Gerald and Zhixin

Upon our first meet up, Gerald and Zhixin vividly recalled how they had first met at an Adam Lambert contest. A little while into our conversation, the couple confessed that their love for Disneyland was what brought them a lot closer together. With that in mind, I decided to incorporate a Disney-themed Lovescapade for the pair.

Inspired by The Little Mermaid, I decided to do what had not been done by other photographers in Singapore. I included elements that blended in with the shores that Ariel first set foot on: the set included lots of pearls, sea shells, driftwood, and treasure chests.

Gerald the Price and Zhixin the Mermaid had amazing chemistry and were a wonder to photograph.

May the couple live happily ever after.

With love,

Melvin

Tying the Knot for Gerald and Zhi Xin

It was an honour to have Gerald ring me up to express his interest in the works and services of Multifolds. His fiancée, Zhi Xin, had always been a fan of our works.

When I first met the pair, Gerald and Zhi Xin already had some ambitious ideas for their pre-wedding and solemnisation, of which most of them revolved around one particular theme. Well, I’m pretty sure the theme of their wedding will shine in the photos to come.

Amidst the crowd of close friends and relatives, the couple’s solemnisation and church wedding was nothing shy of simple and fun. I guess this is where I let the photos tell you the rest of the story. Enjoy!

Church Wedding

This was something that Zhi Xin wanted her brides to do. I’m glad it was a dream come true!

The Lunch

The pair had always wanted a Disney-themed wedding!

The After Party

The Bridal Party Shoot

This is probably my favourite segment of wedding. We could comfortably get goffy with our shots.

The flower toss

This was pretty epic! Adam was so engrossed in the flower toss that he decided to pick Charmaine up when she caught the bouquet!

I’m in love with their spontaneity!

Gosh, I can’t believe I took 2 days to write this post! Maybe it’s time I hired a writer to handle my blog and interview me about the various lovescapades I’ve shot.

Tying the knot for Seraph and Alice

I had gotten to know Seraph when we were both students in Nanyang Polytechnic. I hadn’t had the slightest idea back then that I would become a wedding photographer. 8 years after we graduated, and about 5 years since I started Multifolds, Seraph decided to approach me to shoot his entire wedding. I was extremely honoured and elated to do so.

I’ll show you the lovescapade I did for Seraph and his better half, Alice, in another post!

Gown by: Vera Wang

Shoes: Jimmy Choo

Photography: Multifolds

Hair and Make Up Artist: Valerie Tang Yong

The Preparations

One of the biggest highlights for a wedding would be the morning where the groom comes to pick up his bride. I didn’t have to get Alice to smile as she exuded happiness the entire morning.

The Groom and Gate Crash Segment

This was one of the more epic gatecrashes I’ve witnessed. I loved the Marvel masks, and also the hilarious stints that the groom and the groomsmen were put through. Despite the many hurdles the men endured, everyone of them seemed to enjoy the gatecrash a lot.

“Choose your ang bao, ladies,” they said.

The pinnacle of the comedic gatecrash had to be when Seraph was blind-folded and led into the “torture room”, where he was given a fake tattoo.

Bridal Party shots

Time should be dedicated for photos for both the bridesmaids and groomsmen every wedding. For all the handwork they have put in, it would be nice to reward them with photographs to relive the moments.

The Solemnisation

The Emotions

This was perhaps one of the more memorable weddings I’ve covered. My photographs encompassed an entire spectrum of emotions; from laughter to tears, this is what a wedding was meant to be.
